“Honestly, at this point they have made my business explode. We just broke our all time monthly sales record by 150%, just past halfway through the month. The reason? People are rushing to buy now before the tariffs take effect, which will be at the end of the week. It’s still early to say if these price increases will slow down business after this week’s increase and then another increase coming into effect by mid-April. One smaller issue we are currently facing is the availability of butyl tape, which is currently being produced in Mexico.”
“We are hoping to find US suppliers for all of the products we offer, but many of these product manufacturers have long left the US and it will take time to get US plants back online, I would assume. As for the US steel market, I fear they will simply increase their pricing to end up still be being more expensive than the foreign steel markets, which kind of ruins the whole idea of making US steel more competitive. Ultimately, we will raise our prices to continue our business at the margins in which we must operate to survive, however, if the end result is that our customers get better, US made steel materials, then we all serve to benefit from a stronger US economy.”
